Electrolysis Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Will I need more than one treatment?
Yes. Electrolysis works to shrink the size of hair bulbs over a series of treatments until it no longer produces hair. The number of necessary treatments varies from person to person based on many factors, including heredity and medical factors.
Can I tweeze or thread between treatments?
Absolutely not. Plucking hairs in any way will actually increase the number of electrolysis treatments needed to destroy the root. When a hair is plucked or tweezed it has potential to increase the strength of the hair follicle and make the hair grow back larger and stronger.
How do I manage hair growth between treatments?
You can shave or trim. Trimming is best as it only hits the target hairs and is less likely to cause neighboring hairs to grow stronger.
What does electrolysis feel like?
Sensitivity varies between individuals and parts of the body being treated. Discomfort is minimal though you may feel heat and a mild stinging sensation.
Can I be treated if I'm pregnant?
Although there are differences of opinion on the subject, for the sake of caution Hair Removal of Mid Michigan will not perform treatments on pregnant individuals.
I have a pre-existing medical condition, can I still be treated?
We will not treat open lesions or areas of infection. Some medical conditions do require consent from your primary care physician before we can begin treatment. We will review medical conditions with you during the consultation on an individual basis.
